Kevin McCann of Dickson,
Tennessee is the recipient of a 2007 SABR-Yoseloff Baseball
Research Grant. The grants are made possible by the generosity of the Anthony
A. Yoseloff Foundation. This year’s recipients mark
the third cycle of a program that awards no less than $4,000
in baseball research grants each year. This is
only the third time in its thirty-five year history
that SABR has offered monetary grants to baseball
researchers to assist them in carrying out their
research.
Kevin is a member of the
Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) based in
Cleveland, Ohio. He is also chairman of their Minor League
Committee and is president of the Grantland Rice-Fred
Russell chapter that represents SABR members in Tennessee.
He received a grant for
his proposal to compile statistics for the 1903-1905 and
1922-1924 seasons of the Kentucky-Illinois- Tennessee
(KITTY) League, a professional minor league that operated
between 1903 and 1955. Statistics for these seasons were
either incomplete or not published at all. When finished,
his work will be incorporated into an online minor league
encyclopedia for SABR members.
